Album Notes

There is both a heavy sadness and an uplifting feeling of hope across "Blue" the latest release from singer/songwriter Jannel Rap.

In 1998, Rap released her 3rd CD "Sea of RED" an excellent disc that received 4 pre-Grammy Nominations (the vote immediately before those that appear on the final ballot) On "Blue", her 4th CD, Rap again demonstrates her knack for writing and singing original material that fuses country and rock, as well as folk and blues.

Because many of the songs deal with the disappearance of her sister Regina Bos in Oct.2000, there is an unmistakable heartfelt quality that stretches across the disc, notably during piano-driven "Warrior", "Little Bits" and "The Thing Is".

Rap is an excellent singer, armed with a voice that projects even in the lowest end of her range.

While many singers use excess volume and high notes in a quest to showcase fabricated emotion and to impress: Rap sings from the heart with disarming honesty.

Robert Kinsler OC Register Nov. 2001

Jannel had regional success on her first 3 CD's on both the Westcoast and in the Midwest which included: a full tour schedule during 1995-1999 and in-studio appearances at many radio stations and TV stations. Jannel has recently opened for Nickel Creek, the Yard Birds and Sophie B. Hawkins.

Jannel's, 40 year old sister, Regina(GINA)Bos, disappeared from Lincoln, NE October 17, 2001. That night Gina was playing her guitar and singing at Duggan's Pub. She was last seen with her guitar over her shoulder saying goodbye to friends while walking out of the Pub. The next morning her car was found across the street from the Pub, trunk ad jar, guitar inside. Gina has not been seen since. There has been no clear evidence found to point in any direction. Gina's disappearance inspired Jannel to organize G.I.N.A. (Greater Information Now Available) for Missing People.
GINA for Missing Persons, INC is dedicated year round to finding ways of getting the faces and profiles of the missing out to a national public.

The Song As Far As

I think that it is a good song because Jannel Rap is beautifully, amazingly, talented. I am saying that for real and not just because. I think the song has a lot of feeling put into it. I say that because she sings about whats going on in her life and thats what makes it real and alive! :)

"BLUE" Rap's best work by far!
author: Lanna Brown

Jannel's lastest CD is by far her best work. Blue encapsulates feelings of hope, fear, tenacity, and love all mixed with a bluesy rock rhythm that keeps your feet tapping. Clearly the work featured on this CD is written and sung from the heart.

"BLUE" Named one of the BEST CD's of 2001

Jannel Rap's CD Blue has been named one of the best CD's in 2001 in the year end picks of the Orange County Register (OC/LA California). I read this in the Register and had to check it out for myself. Her writing is superb and her vocal delivery believable and honest. Her unusual voice makes it interesting to listen to. You will be pleasantly surprised by the depth of this indie artist.
