A guitar player for 20 years, NJ native Nat Janoff's soulful, almost narrative style finds its roots in the music of the great innovator, John McLaughlin, along with influences of the technical rock guitar masters of the 1980's.
In addition to his acoustic guitar duo with Jake Schwartz, Nat Janoff has recorded with Matt Garrison (bass) and Gene Lake (drums) on the CD, "Looking Through" a jazz/fusion recording released in 1999 and most recently, formed the jam/fusion trio, Berkana with Rave Tesar (of Annie Haslam's Renaissance) on keys and left-hand bass, and Ray LeVier (of the KJ Denhert Band) on drums. Berkana's self-titled, debut album was released in 2005. Berkana is currently at work on their second album.
NYC's Jake Ezra Schwartz is an accomplished musician who has grown up playing guitar all over New York and across the country. Jake’s lifelong love-affair with rock, along with an extensive background in classical, jazz, funk, and country/bluegrass is the secret to his unique blend of guitar playing. A frequent guitarist on Broadway, Mr. Schwartz also leads the high-energy groove-rock trio, Van Davis, a New York based band featuring drummer Patrick Carmichael and bassist Jon Price. Van Davis's latest album, "Have You Seen This Band?" has received wide critical acclaim from fans, print and web publications and radio airplay.
Both Janoff and Schwartz are graduates of the William Patterson Univerity's Jazz Performance program.
