notes
Whether playing solo acoustic or rocking with his band Woodrow, Jared Woods is at his best on stage. Jared's songwriting style is Bi-Polar Pop and his voice is often compared to that of the late John Lennon.
The twenty-eight year old native of Anchorage, Alaska grew up listening to artists like Cat Stevens and The Beatles. He started singing in High School when he realized that he wasn't going to be the next Steve Vai and that he was much better at writing songs than pulling off whammy bar tricks. After High School Jared moved to L.A. and while attending music school he recorded his first album titled "Carnival Ride" with Guy Marshall doubling as engineer and producer. Track one was a catchy pop tune called "Tonight" that blew up on mp3.com reaching number one on the pop/rock charts and holding it for two weeks. His second album "Spilled Drinks & Starlight" released in March of 2004 has received rave reviews and is being played on radio stations all over Alaska and all over the country.
Jared recently returned home from a three month national tour with fellow Alaskan, Andrew Norsworthy. They played every gig from a small coffeehouse in Dallas Texas to The Fox Theater in Boulder Colorado. The fifty date tour took them all over the country and the two musicians covered 14,500 miles in a small sedan they called "The Warrior". Currently Woods is in the studio working on new material that will be released later this year.
Jared has gigged with: John Gorka, Shawn Mullins, Erin McKeown, The Gin Blossoms, The Donnas, Rose Polenzani, Kristen Hoffmann, The Young Dubliners, Steve Forbert, Maura O'Connell, Tony Moore (Cutting Crew), Marty Jones, and Hamell On Trial.

Buddy! I'm impressed. I know where the music comes from. Do me a favor- write a song about a woman who survived alot. Left everything to start over & guess what.. you can't run away & the ones that love you won't let you. You can call it Janets song. Love & miss you boys! Mamacita
Outstanding
author: Mike DingmanJared Woods is an unsuspecting looking guy, but when he gets on stage his voice proves that he belongs on cd store shelves around the country. This is an outstanding album from an outstanding talent
I love this album!
author: Jessica ThompsonI LOVE this album! It is one of very few that I can put in and listen to from begining to end. Jared's voice combined with beautiful lyrics and just enough music, equals a wonderful listening experience.
Well-crafted music
author: Reg PeratrovichJared is one of the most prolific songsmiths that I know in Alaska, and this album is a magnifying glass into Jared's talents. This does not end with just songwriting though, since talent oozes from every aspect, from Jared himself to the musicians that supported him on this album.
a new classic
author: Gene OwensSpilled drinks & Starlight is a great record. Every song is a potential hit. After a listen or two you'll find yourself humming the tunes as you go about your day. Far better then anything released by the music industry this year.
