Jarflys is the, long-incubated, brainchild of James Davies, aka Jimi Haha, of the internationally successful Jimmie's Chicken Shack. Jimi's angular, tongue-in-cheek originality made him a constantly evolving fixture of the Annapolis, Baltimore, DC scene for many years. Jarflys is the latest chapter in that evolution.

Jarflys started with a few songs that didn't quite fit the Jimmie's Chicken Shack mold and the certain knowledge that there was more melodic and groovier side to Jimi's writing that moved the audience in an equally powerful but very different way.

At first the idea was to make a Jimi Haha solo album. Some of the softer songs even found a home on Jimmie's Chicken Shack's second major label release Bring Your Own Stereo. But somehow these songs didn't quite fit the band or Island Records' idea of how the band should sound. The Jimmie's Chicken Shack anthem, High was one of the very first 'hard' tracks to break through at Rock and Alternative radio and played a significant role in opening the floodgates for the harder edged music that has dominated those formats for over five years now. All through the radio successes of High and Do Right, the huge album sales of Pushing The Salmonella Envelope and Bring Your Own Stereo, not to mention the punishing tour schedule that Jimmie's maintained Jimi was writing more and more of these, "out of format" songs.

From impromptu jams with friends on the local Annapolis scene, some formative shows at the Ram's Head and regular appearances at Armadillos and Acme in Annapolis came the loose collection of the very best Naptown musicians that are now known as Jarflys.

The songs are pure Jimi. Jarflys performances are improvisational, inspired and inspiring, never standing still, always mutating, everything that radio-rock turned its back on long ago. Loose with a tightness, that only comes from great musicianship and equally great personal and musical rapport. Every performance a unique, standalone, must-see event.

The Jarflys brand new album, Anonymous, great as it is, is just a slice, a sliver of the forming and reforming reality that is Jarflys. You must see this band live!

This album is amazing and I think it speaks to not only lots of different people but also independent musicians all over the world. Track #2 Man in the corner especially. Every song on this album is a treasured master piece. A great cd for driving or going on a road trip to. Positive good feeling grooves even though he may be talking about something somber it comes off feeling really good. Jimi Ha Ha is the man. A lot of talented musicians in this band too, good melodies and catchy tunes. I highly recommend this cd to anyone.

I've been a huge fan of Jimmie's for a long time, and I stumbled across the JarFlys by accident. Well, it was a great accident, because this album is awesome. I have been in a really chill and laid back music mode lately, and this fit exactly what I was looking for. Awesome job!
