I was wrong
I expected this CD to be a good one. Without even knowing what songs were going to be on it. Simply because I have become certain of Jasmine Cain's talent over the past few years. But when I heard the acoustic versions of some of my favorite Jasmine Cain songs I was amazed. When I had first heard Highway Prophet, which happens to be one of my favorite songs of this year, I didn't think Jasmine could get much better. I was wrong. The acoustic versions of Landshark and Highway Prophet have a much more ephemeral quality to them in an acoustic arrangement than normal. Landshark acoustic has a more personal feel to it, and unbelievably to me, Highway Prophet is even better as an acoustic song. Then you have a ballad like Sweet Euphoria. Incredible, and so perfect for this CD.
When I first saw the Jasmine Cain Band in concert several years ago I thought Jasmine was a great bassist and rock/blues singer. I was wrong. She is a great singer period. The range in pitch and style she exhibits in the songs on this CD is incredible. I have several friends who are into the more mellow acoustic music, and I didn't think I could find anything ro put under their Christmas tree this year. After hearing these songs, I was wrong!! They're getting this CD...and you should too.

A MASTERPIECE
Having listened to Jasmine Cain's rocking music for a couple of years, when I saw her "acoustic" CD I was a little apprehensive about its content. I was blown away. I would categorize it more as an "unplugged " version since it includes all of the instruments contained in a typical "rock" CD. Reading her liner notes I saw she used the renowned session player Jonathan yudkin to assist her in the production if this MASTERPIECE. I have over 2000 CDs in my collection. My father has been in the music business for over 50 years so I've been exposed to many artists and every genre of music out there. This CD blew me away. I put it up there with any joss stone, Adele, allanis morrissette CD with alot of Janis Joplin soul and feel to it. It also is as good as Amy winehouses' Frank CD. Everything about this CD is amazing. From the songs (lyrics), arrangements, production, mastering and engineering it is world class. Oh yea, did i forget to mention the Singer. Her voice is, once again I have to use the word AMAZING. Her range and strength and use of her vocal gifts blew me away. Some great CDs "grow" on you. This. CD grabs you and pulls you in to an emotional journey you're glad to have been taken on. I truly believe this is one of those "sleeper" CDs that's going to catch on fire and become a million seller. I've listened to thousands of CDs both from major artists and independents and without reservation I say this is easily one of the best I've ever heard. Take the Modern Day Gypsy ride and you'll be glad you did. Its one you'll ride over and over. I have.
