Wine Music
author: joe barbarieAlthough "Leaving Home" is classified in the New Age department of this site, this label is a bit deceptive. Of course, the melodies on the slower numbers are long, languorous, etc., but why this necessarily makes it New Age is puzzling. Some of the quicker songs smack of nautical hornpipes and reels, forms which back beyond "folk music" (in the American sense) and into the ethnomusicological past of the Celtic and Gaelic tradition. Judged by those songs, "Leaving Home" might just as easily classified as "Medieval", "Renaissance," or "Baroque" music. Frank Zappa said "writing about music is like dancing about architecture." That is to say, I can't prove to you why this is good, but I know that I like it.
What a beautiful CD, every song is lovely. Thoroughly enjoying it.
author: Dawn WescottI really liked this music. It was very relaxing and pleasant to listen to. Each song is unique but each piece has a common thread of beauty woven through. Highly recommended for dinner parties, cooking in the kitchen or just enjoying some time at home or in the car. Take a listen, I think you will agree.
