Album Notes

Singer/songwriter Jason Bowers is forefronting a truly new movement in the world's music by creating a "new pop:" fusing the influences of the current generation, instead of just re-hashing the same rock or dance. By combining modern pop/rock style with the most current hip-hop/urban sounds Jason possesses a "true, young, innocent wisdom..." and uses this to make unique, catchy, real music. Jason further defines his sound by often working with dance and pop remixers and bringing in MC's for guest verses in songs.

Jason's favorite thing to do is to perform live in front of a crowd. As he puts it, "Music is about connecting with someone. The sound surrounds them and brings real emotions straight from their soul...." and Jason's songs do just that. His University newspaper hailed him as "able to get the crowd up dancing in one minute and successfully slow things down with a love-ballad in the next." The Springfield NewsLeader marked his tunes as "meaningful melodies: smart pop indeed." The bottom line is that Jason crafts emotion, by baring his soul in front of us all, in the form of classic songs on top of cutting-edge production.

Live performances on the acoustic guitar and piano, both solo and with full live bands, often earn Jason comparisons to Coldplay, Fiona Apple, and Elliot Smith, but Jason wields a unique pop-element that none of these idols have. This 23-year old Aquarius has a distinctive, engaging voice brought about from "growing up in small-town Missouri and listening to too much Beatles," according to Jason. Combine the voice, the songs, and Jason's love of both modern rock and dance music, and you'll get his signature sound: sexy, vibe-saturated, and refreshingly youthful pop tunes.

Before going solo, Jason helped found the Midwest-based band 'The People,' which has recently signed with Astralwerks Records under a new name, 'The Golden Republic,' and has a release due this fall. Then, Jason and his solo band toured throughout the Midwest, opening for other national acts including Art Alexakis of Everclear, Mest, The Samples, MC Badda Flex, and The Riddilin Kids. Other experiences include being selected as a national finalist in the 2002 and 2003 John Lennon/BMI Songwriting Contests and releasing an independent album June 2002, "Never Grow Old." This album hit the top-30 charts at over a dozen radio stations across the U.S., and recently many of its songs were licensed to an upcoming TV show on the E! Network entitled "True Lives."

Now, Jason has stepped up to live out his dreams of playing music for all peoples. Recently he left his life-long home of Missouri and relocated to the center of the world: New York City. Jason performed on Hall-of-Famer Joey Reynolds' show on W0R radio in New York as well as in New York's top solo venues including The Living Room, CBGB's, Sidewalk Cafe, The Baggot Inn, and Arlene's Grocerey. Armed with a brand new demo CD and unbounded determination, this starry-eyed young man is out to conquer the world with catchy, unparalleled songs about unity, peace... and of course, love.
