Meet Jason Gentile, a songwriter who lives in the moment. Ciao Bella, an EP that explores the connections between women and madness, is finally available. Gentile insists that this comparison is not a stab on women, but explains that he feels women play an integral part in his quest to grasp a piece of the daunting mystery of human consciousness. The EP in a way is all about woman. In a way it’s all about letting go or the hope of holding on.

Ciao Bella describes the forces that motivate humanity to love and destroy themselves and others- in a lyrical web you’ll find yourself all wrapped up in when you least expect it. While Gentile has learned that he will never fully understand either women or the madness buried deep in us all, he will enjoy them just as well.

Gentile started his first band at the age of 13 and played music either solo or with others throughout high school and college at Miami University. JG has been primarily on his own for the past several years but is looking for a crew to begin a new project. The solo project stems from both circumstance and his personality. Moving around from place to place makes it difficult to keep up with a band.

The producer and lead guitarist of the new EP was originally Jason’s psychopharmacology professor, Dr. Peter Simson. Gentile avidly pursued a position in SImson’s lab. The pair studied the effect of an herbal remedy called Kava in the nervous system by directly stimulating brain tissue. Before long the two moved out of the lab and onto the stage to play some music.

When they began recording Ciao Bella, Simson brought in a third player, a veteran keyboardist and jack of all musical trades named Kirk Williams who had spent the last thirty-some years playing all over New York City in such hallowed venues as CBGB’s. The trio both recorded and played shows through the fall of 2008. Their sessions were limited by Gentile’s graduation from Miami and entrance into an office job as a credit councilor until now...

After clocking out of the 9 to 5 gig permanently, Gentile is back on the road, and currently could be found anywhere from San Francisco to LA, to the foothills of Kentucky or the rocky peaks of Colorado on any given evening. All of these experiences continue to drive the evolution and transformation of Gentile’s music.
