Album Notes

"Words are inadequate to describe the communication between a band and the audience. When a band soaks up the energy of an audience, and the audience grooves on what they hear, the result is magic. On their debut live album, The Jason Raso Trio is busy gettin’ to the makin’ of magic. The trio, absorbing a number of musical influences from jazz masters, to funk trailblazers, to rock gods, has emerged with a sophisticated, funky style. These three individuals Jason Raso, Rob Hannam and Enio DiReto, have banded together, to further a common end, which is ear ecstasy in a perfect groove."

- Shelley G. 92.5 The X

"Groovespeak" was recorded live at Manhattans Jazz Club, March 29th and June 21st, 2007.

Bass: JASON RASO continually unwraps little gifts to the listener, as he explores a variety of phrasing and lays down a groove so deep that you need a miner's lamp to find your way.

Drums: When the light shines on him, ENIO DiRETO steps up and blazes the kit, then returns us to a comfortable pulse, seamlessly.

Keyboard: ROB HANNAM demonstrates delicate nuances of melody and harmony while displaying a rolling rhythmic sense. You can?t help but feel there is something wild pacing underneath his control.
