The Jason Seed Stringtet brings together members of the Chicago and Milwaukee Symphonies and the Silk Road Ensemble to bring about evocative renditions of composer/guitarist Jason Seed's original music. Drawing on influences that include Piazolla, Zappa, Gershwin, Copland, Bill Frisell, Django Reinhardt, Zoltan Kodaly, American Folk music, eastern European folk music, Tango and more Seed's music attempts to transmit the folk music of a mythical region that only exists in his head...we assume.
The group consists of musicians whose regular gigs are with some of the finest symphonies and ensembles in the US and utilizes their talents and interests that exist deeply within and well-outside classical technique. Violinist Glenn Asch is a powerhouse improvisor and Pipa virtuoso Yang Wei takes pipa to musical realms it has seldom if ever visited before. Violist Helen Reich's lyrical tone is often spotlit as is Dan Armstrong's unbelievable range of expression on the bass and Scott Tisdel's absolutely virtuosic cello playing. All of these people's talents are woven into a rich counterpoint alongside Seed's guitar, culminating in his original compositions that promise to take the listener on a series of wide-ranging musical journeys that are at both exotic and familiar.

"With In the Gallery, (Seed) turns to lilting chamber music with the help of Milwaukee and Chicago symphony orchestra members Dan Armstrong, Helen Reich, Glenn Asch and Scott Tisdel.
