Silk Road A mere mention of that most ancient and illustrious of historically important trade routes evokes vivid images of lonely desert caravans trekking vast expanses of arid sand dunes, isolated oasis settlements, remote mystical cities, snow capped mountain ranges of treacherously icy passes and fathomless ravines, windswept plains, desolate
plateaus and colorful trader markets where innumerable foreign cultures converged for hundreds of years to exchange all manner of exotic goods amid a cacophony of even more exotic languages.
Just as the Silk Road of antiquity provided vital access routes of cross cultural exchange for myriad peoples from
distant lands so will Javid's Silk Road provide a crossroads to encounter exquisitely original guitar compositions infused with
distinctive blends of traditional Flamenco, Afro-Cuban and Mid-Eastern rhythms that transport the contemporary listener to
an extraordinary realm of diverse musical cultures in which the spirit of the Silk Road of yore lives on.

JAVID's Silk Road begins on the fiery, impassioned "Road to Sevilla", which leads to the undulating, mesmerizing Mid-Eastern rhythms
encountered at the gates of "Sahara Castle". Here the weary traveler finds a brief yet refreshing respite in the ethereal "Paz y Amor",
a delicate, lilting melody capable of inspiring even the most down trodden soul.
All too soon the road beckons onward through a musical landscape bursting with a kaleidoscope of colorful moods.
The melancholy and wistful yearning of the restlessly wandering Gypsy expressed in "Flamenco del Corazon" dissipates as the cheerfully uplifting
"Amor Amor" picks up the pace with an ardent Latin flavor replete with castanets and hand claps.
"Rumba en el Aire" continues the fervent momentum, overflowing with an energetically masterful array of percussion instruments that
will have you tapping the table with your fingers and the floor with your feet.
The path now curves, the pace slows and tranquility reigns supreme as "Calm Moment Before Snowing" eases into the soothing sounds of
twilight that herald the approach of "Night Rhythm". A gentle ocean surf and the call of seabirds provide a suitable backdrop for the aptly entitled
"Serenity", which showcases the distinctive style of rhythm guitarist Naoko W. Khazaeli, revealing both the creativity she brings to the music and
the irrepressible essence of her spirit. The hauntingly beautiful and lyrical "Azadah ~ For your Memories" is a heartfelt testimonial and
tribute composed by Javid to honor the memory of his beloved sister Azadah, who passed away in the picturesque,
faraway country of his birth - Iran.
The passionately pulsating and evocatively rhythmic "Silk Road" provides an appropriately melodious finale to this wonderfully incredible musical voyage.
"Although the trail may the journey continues ever onward spurred forth by the heart through the indelible terrain of the imagination"

All the reviews sum it up - super sound, believe it or not, I use it for anaerobic work-outs, just because I love the Middle Eastern rhythms in this CD.
