ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
JFW is a native of the northwest, USA but his roots must dig down deep into the heart of the south. As a vocalist and "harp" player, he was first impacted when riding in the back of his father's '73 Mustang when over the philco came the authentic sounds of Muddy Waters & Little Walter. The influences throughout his younger years would include; The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and Zeppelin. Moving through some metal, punk and industrial days of identity searching, it was later when those deep seated sounds of old started taking hold once again. Big Walter Horton, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, Big Mama Thorton, Paul Butterfield, Charlie Musselwhite. And of course, Ray Charles. It was later still, when Jay was blessed to receive the miraculous and gracious gift of faith. With the freedom found through and with the saving grace of Jesus Christ, Mr. Ward has begun to sing of praise and worship with a thanksgiving and soul that is oh-so-near and hopeful. Truth and Salvation is an album of eleven songs running nearly an hour in length and moving through fields of uplifting blues, banjo and harped filled folk, spoken and whispered prayer, choir bursting gospel and horn propelled rock. You'll feel the timeless lyrics and truth of "All I Have is Love" revealing that the promises of God are more than all we need. The wind and spirit move through "In His Name" driving and lifting the choir to crescendo before echoes of his harmonica fill the ghost towns of your imagination. "Blow that Horn" is a rocking, rock-a-billy fusion with hands-to-the-sky praises of glory to the Lord before the album closes with the story-telling, alt-country feel of "Jesus Christ our Lord" finishing in an orchestral outpouring of spirit-led acclamation.
