On what music connection magazine calls a 'beautifully understated album', Nash reflects on bittersweet memories of summers past.

notes

'a stream up north' was written and recorded over the course of five days in a small cottage on a tiny island on the St. Lawrence River in upstate NY. On what Music Connection Magazine calls a 'beautifully understated new album', Nash reflects on the bittersweet memories of summers past.

Nash and singer songwriter Joe Purdy provide the textural backdrop for these eight island tales with a bunch of old guitars, banjo and mandolin.

Sparse, beautiful and true, 'a stream up north' captures a moment in time that will stick with you for years.

This cd is great from start to finish. Jay's songwriting is amazing, he's one of the best out there right now, I can't believe that he isn't huge in the music biz. People really need to listen to Jay and his music. Joe Purdy is another amazing artist and the two of them together is a great combo.

  • perfection in amongst serenity

Theres something special about listening to an album that was written from the heart and recorded in such a beautiful place in a short amount of time, the absolute rawness of it all is as beautiful as the location of its recording. The best music for a tough breakup, guarenteed to make you reflect on a lost love or a time when things were so perfect. "Everything" is the stand out track, guarenteed to bring a tear to your eye. This cd is perfection in amongst a serene setting. Everyone should have a copy in there cd player.

The emotion and imagery really made me feel like I was sitting in my favorite spot on the banks of the River. Is is summertime yet?

The music written here is amazing! From the instruments to the vocals, "A stream Up North" is so simple yet so beautiful. I truly believe this Cd is an essential addition to everyone's collection. The River is closer then ever before. Thank you....my favorite: "Rocks in the water" No Shoal Markers next summer???

Save the River....Love Jay Nash and his cd. Totally reminds me of the concert in the Hotel's Pub at the islands. Whenever I want to remember the river I just pop Jay's cd in. Great cd.

Jays best work yet. This CD is filled with raw emotion and while a lot of the songs are about Jay Nash's summers on the banks of the St. Lawrence (a place I've never been), it paints such a vivid picture that it seems like you're there spending those summer nights on the riverside as well. Brings out a lot of memories of summers past (girls, friends, nights on the beach) of this listener which makes the record seem all the more real. Can't wait for the next one, but this one will surely satisfy me until the next release and long after. Keep rockin.
