Album Notes
blue Jay Patten's "Crystal Nights" cd is a mix of Jay's smooth groove instrumentals("Bussin To Memphis","Crystal Nights")..original vocal tunes ("True & Tried","Finally") and new versions of four classic songs including Hank Williams' "Im So Lonesome I Could Cry" and Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love"...Jay dedicates this music to his friend Crystal Gayle (Jay is Crystal's longtime bandleader). The first track is a mysterious version of one of Crystal's hits,"Ready For The Times To Get Better"..Jay plays alto saxophone on the tune with guitarist Andy Reiss and a last chorus vocal appearance by Christos..Jay sings a fifties style ballad ("I Don't Have The Heart To Say Goodbye") he co-wrote with lengendery songwriter,Roger Cook, plus "And Sinatra Sang Our Song",which sounds like a classic love standard.(Jay is a former vocalist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra). On this project Jay,a graduate of the Berklee College Of Music, plays alto, soprano and tenor saxophones as well as mandolin, guitar and Woodsounds native American flute..he added a bonus track.A happy version of "Memories Are Made Of This".It's a duet with Crystal Gayle recorded a few years back and is a perfect closer for an album you'll want to listen to over and over.

Superb Jazz Album
Jay Patten and his latest released album, “Crystal Nights,” will light up the music scene with his marvelous collection of Jazz songs. Patten, who is a highly talented instrumentalist/vocalist and is no stranger to the music scene, shares his gift of music with songs that have magnetic style and appeal. The instrumental, “Bussin To Memphis,” lets you hear just how talented this guy is on the sax as he performs with a strong and passionate groove. “Freedom Song” and “Finally” are songs that have an ambiance of the Big Band sound and also lets you get a taste of Patten’s smooth and soulful vocals. His rendition of the great song, “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” is quite charming as it has an upbeat and bouncy beat and flows with a sweet and splashy form. If you are a fan of Michael Buble or Harry Connick then you will truly appreciate the delectable songs on the superb Jazz album, “Crystal Nights.”

Jay Patten's CRYSTAL NIGHTS new release features a combination of his very impressive vocal talents and masterful saxophone techniques. It's an exciting mix of jazz instrumentals, classic crooning and clever arrangements. This cd
will take you on a musical journey from Jay's artful rendition of classics such as "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and
"Can't Help Falling In Love With You". His heartfelt poetry and "Freedom Song" and romantic feeling tune "I Don't Have The Heart To Say Goodbye" co-written with National Songwriters Hall of Fame's Roger Cook punctuate his talent as songwriter and vocalist. Co- producer Christos makes a wonderful vocal appearance on "Ready For The Times To Get Better". The haunting melody of "One More Goodbye" and the exotic lure of "True and Tried" featuring Jay on Woodsounds flute round this cd out.
Add frosting on the cake from "Memories Are Made Of This", a duet with the amazing legendary Crystal Gayle complete Jay's multi faceted album. A MUST HAVE for your collection........ BRILLIANT!

SmoothJazz.com Review
How would you like to spend your nights in close proximity to the gorgeous Crystal Gayle? Well Jay Patten did just that as Crystal’s long time sax man and bandleader... thousands of hours spent alongside on stages, in studios, airplanes, trains and boats (and buses)! Born in New Jersey and educated at Berklee, Jay is a multi-instrumentalist with God given vocal chords. His new album, CRYSTAL NIGHTS, has seven smooth groove instrumentals and six vocals. Jay plays every kind of sax on the album together with mandolin, guitar and even a Native American flute. Key tracks include an upbeat rendition of the Elvis classic “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” a 1950’s style ballad “I Don’t Have the Heart To Say Goodbye” co-written with Blue Mink’s Roger Cook and a catchy closer duet with Miss Gayle “Memories are Made of This.” But our focus track for Smooth Jazz is in-the-pocket hit “Bussin’ to Memphis.” Real champagne moments from beginning to end!
