Jay T. Hairston - Biography
“Gospel music is not just something to listen to, it is an experience. Once you’ve experienced good, anointed gospel music you will never be the same again!”
A gifted songwriter, singer, musician, teacher and producer, Jay T. Hairston believes in sharing the ministry and message of gospel music. He asserts that "Gospel music is the only sacred, authentic art form that is mostly identified by its lyrical content rather than its musical stylization. It is the words and message contained therein that make all the difference. Therefore it is extremely important that the words be heard and understood in order to receive the life-changing message gospel brings."
Jay T. has recorded three solo CD’s and worked with numerous choirs, groups and churches. His work has been heard on radio and television commercials, and for more than twenty years he has traveled the U.S. and abroad conducting gospel music workshops and concerts. He has been a featured artist at festivals in England, Germany, Norway, Scotland and Sweden on numerous occasions. His music continues to touch people's lives literally around the world.
He has performed and collaborated with well-known artists including: Rev. Milton Biggham, Rev. Timothy Wright, Ricky Grundy, Tata Vega, Keith Dobbins and the Resurrection Mass Choir, Jerry Thomas, Timothy Carpenter and Sweden’s gospel great Cyndee Peters.
Known as a dynamic and engaging choir leader, Jay T. has directed choirs at Ohio Wesleyan University, [OH]; Bowling Green State University, [OH]; the University of Northern Iowa, [IA]; and most recently Baldwin-Wallace College [OH] from 1995 - 2007.
