Jay Turner`s new CD, "Nine ladies Dancing" is a lush mix of guitars, organ, bass tracks of all kinds and excellent percussion work. It has flavors of his past CD, Celebration Day" while mixing in new more groove-based elements. The line up on the CD is an all-star local cast, spiced up with some friends from Jay`s days in Nashville,TN. Timm Biery of Danny Gatton fame handles most of the drum work, Tommy Lepson sits in on organ, and Scott Carter contributes to the songwriting making up a majority of the local cats, while Russ Pahl on the pedal steel, Jonny Neel on B3, Joanna Cotten on vocals, and Greg Foresman on guitars fill out the Nasville contingent.
Jay`s songwriting comes from a very deep and spiritual place and is always geared to a positive and hopeful light. He has brought in a wide array of talent to get his message across. Tim Campbell`s deep voice is both soothing and edgy. Joanna Cotten brings in a touch of the soulful and sultry south, and Roy Pascals deep reading voice on the track "My Joy" is so engaging it is hard to pull away from the stereo. This track takes Jay in the direction of spoken word performance and is highly effective in its message.
The CD is extremely well-produced and mixed. The level of audio quality is far superior to what you might normally expect on a local indie release. Special thanks to Ronnie Santmyer at Big Bang Audio for providing all the sparkle that any CD needs. Additional work was performed at legendary Omni Sound Studios in Nashville, and EMI Studios. "Nine Ladies Dancing" shows tremendous growth in Jay`s music and keeps the listener looking forward with anticipation to the next release.
