Album Notes

Jazz Express is a dynamic four piece band.
Guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums combine to create a mellow fusion sound. The band plays melodic music which contains elements of pop, jazz, funk, and latin music. The musical skills derived from years of experience combine to make music which will satisfy both the casual and the serious listener.

Jazz Express was founded in the spring of 1990.
The four musicians came together in search of greater self-expression. At weekly performances, they developed their style and material. By the fall of 1990, the band was playing all original material, mostly written by Rex Bell and Jeremy Cohen. The material and the playing style of the muscians combine to create contemporary sound of the band.

Jazz Express recorded its first album in 1991.
The band went into Bunyup Bakeries Studio in Oakland and recorded twelve songs. As much as possible was recorded live. The tape was duplicated at KABA on their real-time system.

Jazz Express is a performing group.
The original weekly performances were at a club in Concord, California. Other performances have been at clubs in Martinez and Pittsburg, Ca. The band has played at St. Mary's College in Moraga, performed free concerts in downtown Oakland and Concord and was also featured on a live radio broadcast from 24 Hour Nautilus of Concord.
