Album Notes

Mahanaim Satya Leader: He started piano lessons at the age of seven, and at the age of eleven took up the trombone. He became student director of the junior high school band and decided he should know how to play all the band instruments.

He play solo chair trombone in the stage band and recorded his first record from their talent show. He began playing bass in high school and continued playing trombone in the school bands an orchestra groups, from dance music to classical venues. He went on to study music formally at Long Beach Jr. College. In the army he committed his study to bass and piano and being stationed in the San Francisco Bay area he was immersed in the wealth of jazz venues available and participated in many jam sections with the city's best.

His "break" came when Charles Lloyd needed a backup band and Naim's trio got the gig. They recorded two albums and toured the Western US. He played and recorded with many headliners including Michael White, Haley Caliman, John Handy, Ali Akbar Khan, and played amongst a rich diversity of sounds with the likes of Bobby McFerrin, Albert King and Sun Ra.

In 1995, coming out of semi-retirement after fifteen quiet years,
Naim came back to jazz through the piano and has played with his group,
"Jazz Philosophy," writing original compositions as well as performing his favorite jazz standards.
