Album Notes

Singer/songwriter Brian Craig has been writing and performing since 1988, mainly in Denver and Los Angeles, notably in such venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater, Boettcher Concert Hall, and Beull Theater in Denver, and the Shrine Auditorium in LA.

A multi-instrumentalist (guitars, keyboards, drums, vocals), Brian studied classical voice and piano at the University of Colorado, eventually graduating cum laude from California State University with a degree in music/audio engineering. He self-produced his first album, "Nothing Else," in 1996 as a senior project at CSUDH recording studios. His second independent album, "Rocks and Trees" he released in 2000, selling at cdbaby.com and other select locations.

Brian began writing songs for congregational singing in the late 90’s, and when DPI put out “Songs of the Kingdom” in 1999, included were several of his songs, including “I Need Your Love,” “Be with Me, Lord,” “Great Among the Nations,” “Go and Make Disciples,” and “Thank You Lord.” He has since continued to write new congregational songs, and Brian’s third album with the title “Be with Me Lord” contains eight new songs for congregational worship as well as most of his songs from the DPI songbook. He posts new songs at jbriancraig.com for churches to download and use free of charge, and many other new songs are regularly posted there.

Brian began song leading in the Denver church in the late 80’s and after moving to Los Angeles in 1992 was able to learn and grow in leading worship, influenced by some very powerful song leaders such as Louis Martinez and John Augustine. He also gained from working on productions in LA with Sherwin Mackintosh and Kevin Darby. Currently Brian directs the worship of the LA Church of Christ when the whole church comes together, coordinating sound and production, putting together bands, choirs, teaching new songs, and leading the worship.

Brian also has served in the full-time ministry in Los Angeles since 2000, and with his wife, Dessa, leads the South Bay ministry of the church (www.southbaysector.com). Brian and Dessa have three young children, Jameson (7), Marshall (4), and Cora (1).
