Well-known for his aggressive, socio-political conscience in his former Boston street punk band Suspect Device, Jason deliberately formed Jason Bennett and The Resistance in order to retain the spirit of punk with more musical diversity and to realize his long held vision of rock and roll as folk music. Whether playing a punk acoustic or electric, this band means what it says and makes it obvious at every show. Bennett's deft, diverse, and daring songwriting is influenced by Woody Guthrie, The Clash, Billy Bragg and Bad Brains is now paired with Ryan Packer and James Burke (The Pug Uglies). The Bennett/Packer/Burke songwriting partnership is matched with drummer Mike Mcabe to synthesize a relentless rhythm section and melodic guitar playing with songs touching on topics such as friends going off to war and the hope of a future that is somehow better than the present. This is music made for, and of, the times we live in. The band have been busy on the road for the past year- traveling up and down the east coast and out to the Midwest- they've logged more shows on the road than their home town. Their debut recording, Hope Dies Last was recorded and produced by Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, The Pixies, Billy Bragg) at Camp Street Studios in the winter of 2007 and will be available September 20th. The band plan to be back touring again this fall and spring and to record again this winter. Continuing the inexorable march forward.
