Album Notes

Johnny Chauvin and the MOJO Band , originally a four piece group has now grown to six members. The core of the band is still strong, but with a new powerful, driving rythm section, second guitar/vocalist and keyboard/vocalist. Johnny Chauvin', a one hot rockin’ accordion player from Franklin, Louisiana, is obviously the frontman and his vocals are the backbone that instills into the band its' unique sound. Still at his side is Paul Guidry aka 'T-Paul' on guitar, lead and back-up vocals. Paul Guidry sets the smooth, soulful yet chunky guitar rythms and signature background harmonies and lead vocals as well (hear the second CD release, 'Groovin'). A hybrid style of guitar playing that uses a unique picking technique (thumbpick) adds the special touches to the signature zydeco rthyms heard on both CD compilations. A new second guitarist, Mike Lejeune (rythm and lead) adds special touches to the already signature guitar rythms. He is also an avid songwriter and extraordinary vocalist. His contributions will be much noted on the groups' soon to be released third and fourth CD's. Roy Bertucci, a legend keyboardist from Lafayette, La. adds soulful, smooth touches that compliment Johnny's accordion style. He too contributes a wealth of vocals, ideas, and keyboard licks. Johnny's new powerhouse rythm section, Kevin Stelly on drums and Bryan Badon on bass, work together like a well oiled machine and both came from one of the top local Zydeco groups of a well known artist. Kevin is also a session drummer for a well known recording studio. To hear them live is a treat in itself. . Enjoy, stay tuned and keep MOJO a part of your entertainment...

Heard JC & the Mojo Band on KBON Radio out of Eunice, Louisiana. We stream KBON here to Australia and have visited S/W Louisiana many times so we know what to expect with music styles..we're BIG fans of those accordion players ( got a hand made Louisiana Bb and C box myself which I play in our band here ). When I heard it I asked our good friend Todd Ortego, the KBON DJ, who the Band was...and I'm glad he responded. This is a great CD that CDBaby sent me ( in real fast time..just a few days by air mail )....a whole lotta covers brought up to very danceable,toe-tappin' ZydeCajun/Swamp Pop, tempo, that a lotta folks could relate to. Great work guys..hope to see you gig next year when we're planning to be in LA. Dixie D...Adelaide, Australia.
