Progress. Music critics take it for granted. Whether it's good or not, novelty and the next new thing are always around the block. But check the backyard, Chuck, cause James Cavanaugh's got the home cooking at a rolling boil. These 10 tracks are an education in the best kind of restraint, where less is always a little bit more and the parts make up a distinctive whole. Centered on voice and guitar, the arrangements add a dash of muted trumpet, a touch of tasty percussion, but always in the service of the songs. James' vocals show staggering range, from plaintive to acerbic to downright sweet. Tuneful, direct and unaffected, this is some of the best pop music I've heard in years.
This CD is a square deal.

So cool

This is one of the best local cd's I've ever owned. James is a songwriter of mammoth proportions. Song after song on this self-titled disk is incredibly fun, and James's voice is very captivating and endearing. Kent and Gia are in top form too. Why this cd isn't on a major label is beyond me.

This is a great CD!
author: Margaret Hellwarth
This CD is the kind of CD you listen to and even when the words or the theme is kind of sad (like "New Year's Doesn't Suck"), it makes you smile. It has a great retro sound, that mixes blues and rock and a variety of genres. It's fun to listen to and it's just a really great recording. If you were a fan of artists of the 60s and you want that with a 00 update, this is the CD for you!
