Album Notes

Josh Charles and Carealot Productions is proud to announce the release of J.C. Bosco: BEING IN THE ENERGY FUNNEL--(12/30/06). There was a lot of work and care put into this CD - (similar to A POSITIVE FLOW-{Second Edition}, the last release) but with a few significant differences: the addition of a few new band members who've also contributed some of their song ideas into the mix as well as some guest horn players and a percussionist. So the sound of J.C. Bosco as a "band" shines through on most of the tracks - and with a vengeance that's displayed on cuts like "In Some Laughs/Energy", "Take Flight", "Passing the Time" and "Mofungo" among others. The recording date of this work began when JC started
recording at least 4 compositions on 7/15/04 - including "Bees 'n Chocolate" and "Hear-(Part 2)" among others. However most of this work came to full bloom in the latter half of 2006 - especially when then bandmembers Aaron Moment and Rob Benson not only aided JC with some powerful guitar and drum/percussion work, but much of the recording was done in Rob's basement "practice pad" in NJ as well as in a NYC rehearsal studio to really spice things up. The last song on the CD-("Out some laughs/That's a wrap") also adds a new and unique touch to rap music in general, while still retaining
the J.C. Bosco sound.

With Being in the Energy Funnel, Josh Charles is also much closer by way of finding his own voice as an artist - incorporating compositions with varied styles, yet which the end result is a clear blend of original/unique "prog" which is evident upon a careful listen. Plus one of the great things about BITEF is that it sounds just as much "today" as it does from another period on many of the tracks, making this CD of interest to a broad range of listeners. Most of the melodies and "hooks" are quite strong as well-- something that JC has been known for with his compositions. So far, folks like Jeff West--(the head of NYC's top notch rehearsal studio, Ultra Sound) has called this CD "amazing in terms of its new sounds and is an improvement over the last one"-(though Jeff still likes APF-:). For a project like J.C. Bosco, its been a bit "the small miracle" that even without the aid of "the Majors" and being on a low budget, album creations like Being in the Energy Funnel and A Positive Flow have been realized. In fact, we're hoping you (the listener) feel as we at the J.C. Bosco camp do: that BITEF gives a few Major label releases a run for their money nonetheless!...Take that careful and due listen... we feel there's a few sounds that are sure to captivate and if you're a fan of true progressive rock in general-(along with a few twists), you'll find this CD a special experience with a few surprises to boot. And yet because of the strength of BITEF as well as the fact that many may find it hard to label in its entirety, it may just be one of those rare CD's that could be timeless. This is a work that's not to be overlooked.
