In 2004 a series of rocky substrate slabs bearing marks similar to proto-Inuit languages were discovered several miles north of Siorapaluk, Greenland, thanks to advances in electromagnetic subterranean imaging. The markings appeared to date some 5,000 years prior to the creation of cuneiform writings - the earliest previously known record of human language.
Worldwide efforts lead to translations of the previously unseen language, which were subsequently labeled "The Sacred Texts of Carnivora."
In 2010, fine artist Jason Covert produced Carnivora: the exhibition - a massive body of artwork inspired by the translated myths found on those slabs. The exhibition was created in order to allow the viewer to immerse themselves in a world suggested by those texts.
This album is a selection of songs crafted by Covert and musician, Felix McTeigue, inspired by those same myths, offered as a soundtrack by which to view the works of Carnivora.
