This is a sampling of some traditional jazz tunes, with bluesy surprises in the mix. These tunes are ageless, and are sure to gain interest from the old and the young. They are a reflection of melody, mood, and rhythm. The album features: Julie Charnet (vocals), Bootsie Barnes (Sax), Sy Platt (Trumpet/ Flugelhorn), Madison Rast (bass), Tom Lawton (Piano), Randy Sarles (Guitar), and Jon Ball (drums). My style can be described as bluesy jazz, with influences of Bonnie Raitt, Chris Connor, Diane Schuur and of course the great jazz musicians of the past. Some of these performances are are not considered “standards” though, Is You Is does feature some of the best standards that I have always loved. It is a reminder of the great music of the 1940’s and has a modern twist. The moods and songs have been influenced by all genres of music.
