Album Notes

To those closest to me these are “The Smoke House Sessions”. Intimately named so due to the environment in which this album was recorded. That being said, the actual title of the album is “Conviction”. A catalog of songs, emotions, and pretty much the majority of what I’ve felt and gone through (in my short time here on earth) all bundled up into a year of scattered writing and recording. While on tour with my closest friends and music group (Authority Zero) I found myself writing more and more simplistic acoustic songs while in the process of writing for the next AZero record. These songs came out very personal and mirrored many, if not all, of the events that were taking place in my life. After returning home from our first tour of 2005, I approached my good friend Bryan Sandell and presented to him a song I had written called “Covert Operations”. He then proceeded to ask me if I’d like to record the tune in the studio he’d begun building in his garage. Starting out with nothing more than an SM58 and a couple of “high definition symbol mics” we dove in. Using Garageband, we started laying down tracks whenever I happened to be in town or whenever either one of us had the time to mess around in the studio (all the while picking up new recording equipment along the way). Well, a year has passed. What had started out as a time filler has now become a full length album and what had started as a mere acoustic album has now also transformed into something more. The end result is “Conviction”. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed
making it.
