Introducing J D FOX
Jacques Nosco & Doug Gunsch
Although the duo JD FOX is a new group, both artists have had successful careers in the film and music business. Without knowing it, you've probably heard their music on TV used on episodic television and commercials.
Jacques and Doug played in Detroit Michigan rock bands starting in the mid 60’s. They each performed with their own groups as well as with other bands such as Bob Seger, Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes, The Frost, The James Gang, and Mitch Ryder.
Jacques, who played guitar and keyboards in several rock bands, also attended Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan studying music theory and mass communications.
Incidently the name, JD FOX, stems from the initials, Jacques and Doug, coupled with "Fox," which is a name they found to be easier for restaurants people to pronounce than their actual names (“Fox, party of two").
Prolific composers and musicians, Jacques and Doug have been writing original music since 1971. Doug said, “One of my first song writing memories was with 'Jim' (when we first met in 7th grade Jacques called himself Jim to avoid the teasing). "He was at the piano, I was playing the guitar and we wrote a song called Paperclips in 1971. Who would have predicted that we would still be creating our sound after all these years.?”
As of 2006, their body of work includes nearly 300 original songs. From 1976 to 1994 they showcased original material in L.A. as The Slagg Brothers, playing numerous clubs like the Palomino, Whiskey, Troubadour, The Coral, and Filthy McNastey’s. They also owned and operated Earshot Studios, a rehearsal and recording studio.
In 1980 Jacques and Doug along with friend Jeff Hodge started the publishing company, JEDOJI Music ASCAP, which has produced music for episodic television and commercials.
Today, as JD FOX, the Nosco/Gunsch team have delivered a sound that is melodic rock/country, with harmonies and chord changes that go back to the time “when music had more from the heart”. Similiar in style to Jackson Brown, The Eagles and some of Tom Petty's work. According to Jacques it is “real music, meant to kick off your shoes, relax and escape, not dark, corporate formulated, rehashed according to an accountants pen of what sells, but fresh ridin’ with the top down happy music"
