First finding his voice as an 8bit .mod rocker / funk bassist, jww has come to his current solo project through the convoluted path of acoustic guitar, sarod ragas,
bands, music for film and theatre, improv and DJing.
Now residing in Montreal, his music is a reflection of the multifaceted influences of the city combined with the desire to create a soundtrack to live by.
jww's first solo recording is an EP created in 2003. Consisting of five tracks, it documents a summer in the city, exploring moods from light to dark, with upbeat hiphop
breaks (and a touch of d'n'b), shimmering melodies, drones and dub bass lines.
In 2004, with the luxury of an external studio workspace, jww set out to create a cohesive work intended to be played in a variety of situations -- on headphones, while working or creating, or at a party.
Expanding on the format of 2003's EP, LP2004 explores longer song structures, and sequences of tracks mix continuously together.
The music has been described as uplifting, expansive, subtle, visceral and funky. The LP features artwork by Montreal visual artist Carl David Ruttan.
