Album Notes
Jean Caffeine has a storied past as evidenced in her new cd, “Geckos in the Elevator”, her first release in ten years, which reflects, on her life history as well as more recent travels which include a year in Bangkok, several years in Canada. The beautiful cd package features art work by Jean, created for an art exhibition in Canada by the same "Geckos" name.
Her new record has standout tracks to sample like "Love Letters from Laos" a moody soundscape which reflects on an intercontinental crushthe catchy, "Lucky Penny", (Mama's and the Pappas meets the Velvets) “Winterland” ( a Joni/ Fiesty tale of different chapters of winter and Winterland in the songstress' life) and ‘Hey Austin, a soulful love song to her beloved Austin, TX which features the get down guitar playing of Chuck Prophet who co produced that track and several others.
Other were recorded in Hamilton, Ontario at the Chatham Garden Studios with Canadian music pals Mike Trebilcock, Tom Altobelli and Rae Billing.
More were recorded in Austin, TX.
Jean fans may find this cd a little less country/ rock n' roll and a little more folk n' pop.
