In 1969 Mr. Quincy Mattison was with a group called The Winstons. He was the musical director. He composed and wrote the original music for the song, COLOR HIM FATHER.
Before he died he asked me to record with him and to do the song that had meant so much to him. If you are fortunate to get his cd single, you will have a treasure.
LOVE GROWS is a poem that has always got a very positive audience response. Darrel Jones is from Alabama and worked with The Commodores from DEC of 1975 (touring and recording up to the spring of 1982 and then he went into the Studio with Lionel Richie to do Lionel's first solo album and touring and recording with him for the next two years. After the Richie experience, Darrel Jones did a brief stint with Atlantic Starr on the Bud Fest Tour in 1987. After that he went back on the chittlin circuit. He is one of the most talented musicians I have ever met and it is my belief and hope that he is on the road to success. I hope this song helps him on the journey.
The female vocalist on Love Grows is Indigo Blu. She adds a lot to this track. She has her own album on cdbaby also. She reminds me of Minnie Ripperton, who I had a chance to meet and interview when I was a writer for a Boston news paper. Thank you so much Indigo.
As for me, Jean-Claude Toran, I am currently working with Dexter Wansel on recording project with two other poets. Also Roy Ayers is releasing two songs on DVD written by Jean-Claude Toran.
