Album Notes

Living in Northeastern Iowa, many winter evenings are spent dreaming about warm, tropical places. Most of the music on this CD was  inspired by those images created in my mind. "The Journey" is a song about the journey through life. "Silver Wings" - a song of flight, reaching for that highest, most amazing place. "Flying Solo" is about that feeling of flying on your own for the very first time. "Carousel" - imagine riding an old-fashioned carousel with the care-free ease of a child as the painted ponies go around and up and down while the carousel waltz is playing. "Finding Home" - no matter how far you travel, there is nothing like finding your way back home. "Behind the Haze" - imagine driving on a foggy, misty, hazy morning and reflecting on the mystery behind the haze. "Beyond Tomorrow's Dream" - only when you look beyond today will the dreams of tomorrow and thereafter become visible. "Dance in the Morning Sun" - waking on a warm summer morning and feeling the warmth of the morning sun shine on your face. "Like an Ocean" - close your eyes, listen to the rolling waves and feel the power of the ocean. "The Last Tear" - when it seems you have no more tears left to cry, you realize there are others around you suffering much more than you. "Through Mozart's Eyes" - life as perceived through the eyes of the 19th Century composer and my blind Mini Schnauzer who bears his name. "Shadows of Light" - imagine cruising through the country on a bright, sunny morning as the sun reflects patterns of light and shadows through the trees. "Cafe' Luna" - breathe in the warm air and the scent of coconut oil while carefree sounds of a Reggae band play in harmony with the ocean as you sip a tropical drink, fully absorbed in the atmosphere of Cafe' Luna. "Sunset on the Lake" - imagine sitting on the lakeshore, the sun sets closer to the water as the sky turns vibrant hues of blue, green, orange and red until it gradually fades away into quiet darkness. "I'm Gonna Catch that Smile" - have you ever seen a smile so contagious you couldn't help but catch it? "Myster Dance" - celebrating the mysteries of the universe and reflecting on the intricacies of God's creation. It is my hope that the music of "Flying Solo" will bring these warm images to you as you listen.
