Album Notes

'Who am I?' was Jean Laughlin's second project with co-producers, arranger Jim Martin and sound engineer Freddie Breitberg. As in all of their joint projects, Jim's hip Big Band charts and hauntingly beautiful string orchestrations superbly enhance Jean's original songs.
Sumptuous solos by well known Chicago jazz musicians, Frank Caruso (piano,) Jim Gailloreto (tenor sax,) and Art Davis (trumpet,) enhance the album further.

"The first time I heard Jean's CD, 'Who am I?' I felt that she had set the story of my life to music." (An Atlanta, GA fan remarked.)

Jean's lyrics are very personal. In fact, a Chicago fan said that she felt like she had come to know Jean through her lyrics . As personal as the songs are, though, her listeners seem to relate to them easily.
