ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A woody, acoustic sound, sharpened with Irish penny whistles, warmed by guitar and upright bass, backed by banjos and high tuned guitar. The album has refined solo and harmony vocals throughout, and is blessed by a chorus of friend and family singers. These long time favorite Christmas carols have new life!

“Just when you thought you were stuck in the era of ‘Season’s Greetings,’, this album frees you up to say ‘Merry Christmas!’ again! No Santas on your rooftop, no reindeer roasting over an open fire – just beautiful, honest-to-God Christmas music!”

- Patrick Malloy, Boston Road Records

Rejoicing over Jed's Christmas CD
Did you ever sit around the fireplace singing Christmas songs with your friends, accompanying yourselves with a handful of acoustic instruments? Neither did I. But if I did I hope it would sound like Rejoice! A Christmas Album by Jed Marum and friends. This is a wonderful album. The music is performed with upbeat exuberance. The songs selected for the album are a celebration of the birth of the Christ. No maudlin ballads, singing chipmunks, blinky reindeer, or Scrooges who need to be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas here. Jed and friends obviously never forgot the true meaning of Christmas and sing about it with great joy. The emphasis is on singing here, but I should mention David Lovrien’s wonderful whistle playing throughout the album. It sounds great both when taking the lead and when accompanying the singing , guitars, and banjos. The album ends with Jed’s original, inventive song Banjos We Have Heard on High; one song that is easily worth the price of the CD. Now I need to find a fireplace and some friends; Rejoice! A Christmas Album has me in the mood to sing some Christmas songs.
