REVIEWER COMMENTS:
"What sets Jed Marum apart from other Celtic/Folk artists is the performance concepts and delivery he brings to the stage – the historical significance, poignancy and emotion that his songs evoke, in addition to being a great singer and a stellar player. Jed is one of my favorite performers and we are happy to be on board with his Lonestar Stout project."

(Full Disclosure Caveat)Having seen Jed Marum perform live on many an occasion, and having bought all his albums, guess one could say I am a fan, so this review of his latest endeavor may be a bit on the biased side. This album is dessert for the ears. This collaboration with Morrison and Brown among others (including Jamie Marum)is a mix of Irish, Scottish, and Canadian ballads and tunes, but it is more. Marum's artistic sense seems to grow with each album. In this album the musical archivist/troubador includes the personal (Uncle Joe) as well as historical ( the title tune and "Rock & Tide"). Usually a soloist, in this outing he brings in incredible musicians, not just as posse, but they are given solo turns as well. Something there is to be said about a recording that has fellow friends who are also professional musicians. The added energy gives this album an "in the livingroom" feel. If you are new to Marum's music, this album will convince you to check out the others he has. If you have not seen him perform, put it on your 'to-do' list. Yeah, he's that good.

Jed, As a personal friend of yours, I may be biased, but you have done it again! Sands Of Aberdeen is a masterpiece as are your other albums. Best of luck with it. Can't wait till we sit side by side and play some tunes together again. See you next August at Windham NY. Rich Mendoza (Musician-Libby Prison Minstrels & Cumberland Blues)

Sands of Aberdeen is one of the best Albums, yet! Jed Marum has outdone himself once again, this time with fellow musicians of outstanding caliber. Jed's wonderful voice and playing combine with Hugh's and Mason's expert musicianship to make every tune a delight to the ear. I love the way he makes some of the rather esoteric Scottish and Irish lyrics more understandable to my American ears. The instrumentation is wonderful. I have listened to this CD via my iPod every single day since it arrived from CD baby ! Have a listen and you'll know why !
