These are the songs you want to hear when you're driving a little too fast on a country road in the middle of July, windows down, finally free of whatever it is you're longing to leave behind. You want to hear these songs when youre holding hands with your best girl, and then again when she leaves you all alone and lonely. This is music to listen to repeatedly, not just because it's well written, well sung, and well-played, because believe me its all of those things, but because this is music that speaks to us all about the long, dusty road that makes us human.

A thoroughly enjoyable cd.
author: Janes Cassara (Rapid River Monthly Asheville)
There is a refreshing warmth and resonance to their songs, buttressed by Jeff's assured singing and instrumental work and Benares' voice-the sort of precise yet delicate twang that is sure to please fans of Gillian Welch, Maybelle Carter, and Little Sadie. Fourteen songs, original music written by the pair with a few traditional numbers lovingly included that in many ways is music exactly reflectiove of the creaters; inviting, unassuming, and imminently likeable.

Worth the CD price just for THERE WAS A TIME---fabulous!
author: Appalachian Music Lover
This is a terrific CD by a talented, witty duo. It is worth the price of the CD just for their song THERE WAS A TIME. The only thing better than hearing Jeff and Benares on this CD is seeing them live which I did several times in NC this past summer when they were on tour. Don't miss them (or their CD)!!

They recruited me
author: Sean McCarthy, Standard-Times in New Bedford, MA
Jeff and Benares won me over. I wasn't a big fan of their genres when I discovered them, but this CD combines sardonic wit and emotional sincerity with musical aplomb and skill. Their songs will take you from laughs to tears, they truly capture the ups/downs/and otherwise of the human experience. If you like the folky/acoustic format then you'll probably enjoy their music. Their juxtaposition of perspectives and delivery result in a rich collection of songs.
