A fresh take on traditional and new folk. Minimalism with emphasis on the honesty of acoustic music and voice. The album moves in the traditional themes of new beginnings, escaping adversity, and the call to return home.

Album Notes

We recorded this CD after receiving so many requests that it became embarrassing to admit we had nothing. It's not as though we hadn't thought about it, but the music just kind of snuck up on us while we were having so much fun. We honed our sound at jams, park concerts, song circles, festivals and benefit performances. Mike selects a lot of the music, and Jeff loves to play and arrange harmonies and leads. The difficult part was deciding what to include from a large repertoire of songs. In the end we gravitated towards a feeling between blues, high lonesome and campfire music, I guess. It was exciting that our very talented friends were so anxious and willing to help out, and we're honored to have them on the recordings.

I confess I personally know Jeff Bertino and Mike Stubblefield. Yes, there's an element of prejudice. However, I have played music most of my life, off an on semi professionally. I even once built a pro recording studio. Music is one of my passions. One needs passion in life or there is a terrible void. Jeff and Mike have created a great album to rank with some of the best recordings I have heard. It is well engineered, balanced, melodic, and perfect. I am thrilled to own their first album. Acoustic music doesn't get better and this first album is a home run. Wow!
