Though Jeff originally comes from jazz & blues, studying with keys extraordinaire Bruce Katz, Jeff’s sound leans more toward rock, folk, and funk. After obsessing over the likes of Dylan, Buckley, Brubeck, Wonder, and Allman(s), Jeff sounds a bit like them all.
Previously playing as “Jones One”, Jeff and his band traveled to schools, colleges and clubs around the northeast and beyond from 1999-2003, selling over 1000 copies of a short LP “Home” before releasing the full-length “Lately”.
While “Lately” received quick sales and critical acclaim, Jeff and the band drew packed clubs, colleges and schools across the Northeast.
During a subsequent three years off from live shows, Jeff focused on writing and putting together a new backing sound.
Now drumming vet Mark Greenberg joins Jeff after years with legend Dicky Betts and Roomful of Blues. Mike Null comes off successful runs with Toni Lynn Washington and Sarah Brindell. Hank Woods can be found playing bass, guitar, trumpet, or one of 10 other instruments in New York on a nightly basis.
After testing the group out in 2006 with special shows at The Bitter End and the Middle East, the new music and new band are creating a new buzz – web sales of Lately are surging and the most recent show at the Bitter End was jam packed, and drew two curtain calls.
Jeff and band will soon head into the studio to record a second album with Producer Myles Mangino (Pixies, Mark Mulcahy) – but for now Jeff is continuing to perform solo and with the band to test out the new material.
Recent and upcoming gigs include feature performances at The Middle East, The Bitter End, Virgin Megastore, College of Holy Cross, N.E. Independent School Conference, Bill's Bar, Johnny D's, Trinity College, Gillette Stadium Fidelity Clubhouse, Williston Northampton School and Lion's Den, NYC.
