Soft-rock and acoustic ballads; a diverse album with a wide range of styles and sounds. (OK, it's a touchy-feely singer/songwriter album.) But it's hopefully a great CD for a good drive.

Album Notes

As an album of soft-rock, ballad, pop-folk songs, "Foundations" is a versatile album that begs to be heard - literally. This album was a personal journey for me. It was a big leap for me creatively and actually served as my honors thesis in music at Dartmouth College.

"The variety of musical genres covered in these songs, from love ballads to a string quartet to an a cappella song featuring Hafner's voice recorded 10 times over, give the CD a life of its own. Like the scenes of any great film, the tracks flow flawlessly from one to the next, creating an overall sense of unity. Songs on the album that stand out include an addictive ballad called "I Stay," which belongs on the top of every girl's romantic song list." (The Dartmouth, 5/9/2002)

The album tells a story, which is something I take pride in; there's a cohesiveness to it, and I feel like it says a lot about who I've been as a person and as a musician. It's very autobiographical, a personal journey at one point in my life, and while music I make now might be better, I don't have a recording studio as close at hand anymore... So this album is what it is and is what it was.

On the CD I perform all of the vocals (often layering myself) and play acoustic, electric, bass, piano and some synth.

If you like singer/song-writers with stories to tell and gentle easy-to-listen-to songs, hopefully you'll love "Foundations."

Thanks.
