A Nice Treat for all of Your Senses!
author: Nancy Holtz
Hi ~ I have had my "Sepia" cd since it's release date back in March of 2004. I never grow tired of listening to this well blended, smooth flowing playlist of songs. I too feel that Jeff's songs are hidden gems, that I Hope will get the chance to shine brightly on the radio one day soon. He has such a Sincere way with lyrics, each song gives me such a clear visual of what Jeff was thinking and wanting to come across. I love his accoustic magic, his harmonies, the way his songs are accented with other musical artists magic too. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite song on this cd, I love all of them for their individuality. It is easy to see Jeff's admiration for Gerry Beckley's talents, on Gerry's song "Cryin" as well as Jeff Foskett's ,Hank Linderman's & Gary Griffin's, contributions to these songs too. I find these songs very refreshing and when you take a listen to them and read Jeff's liner notes on each song, you too will find this to be a well blended treat for all your senses and moods. Take care, Nancy Holtz :)

Outstanding collection of material

Sepia is one of Jeff Larson's finest album's, it truly is an outstanding CD filled with lots of interesting material, catchy lyrics and songs. Once again, as with Jeff's other albums, Sepia is another excellent album filled with interesting songs, beautifully sung vocals with lyrics that have a a real unique sound. Jeff Foskett and along with Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell of America also contributed some beautiful and sweet background vocals to "Cryin", "Hazy Sunshine" and several others. Gerry's vocals seem to compliment Jeff's in an unique, interesting and similar style and manner. And as another reviewer stated "Cryin" is another stunning Gerry Beckley penned song that is beautifully sung and performed with Jeff's unique vocals. Here's hoping they're able to continue their collaboration in the years to come. "Getting Into Yesterday" is another gem and just a great pop song with an interesting sound and thoughtful lyrics that seem to just pop. The acoustic mix of "Yesterday" is also another great song with a soothing sound. It's great that Jeff produced and included two versions of a great tune! Sepia is filled with gorgeous vocals, lush harmonies and interestingly crafted songs. I've also had this CD for about 4 years or so, but it's rarely ever out of my player. I've never been disappointed with any of Jeff's albums, and Sepia is no exception. Looking forward to the next release from Jeff. Sepia is highly recommended and it deserves more than 5 stars!

Is Jeff Larson rock music's best kept secret?
author: Tafkam
Is Jeff Larson rock music’s best kept secret? I think so, give this CD a listen and I’m sure you’ll think the same. His earlier albums “Watercolour Sky” and “Fragile Sunrise” were terrific and if you like your music full of Californian sunshine then this latest and wonderfully melodic and well-produced album is just for you. It has harmonies to die for and is a beautifully crafted and uplifting piece of work. Larson wrote eleven out of the twelve tracks and is ably assisted on several tracks by his underrated New Surf stable-mate Jeff Foskett along with America’s Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley. The guitar playing and backing vocals throughout are excellent, particularly Foskett’s backing vocals. The highlight of the album for me though is the Beckley written and produced “Cryin’” which it is simply stunning in it’s beauty. The instrumental “Suburban Lawns” is clever and well played, “Hazy Sunshine” has an instantly likeable sixties feel to it but it’s the layer upon layer of vocal harmonies on all of the songs that are the real joy. Jeff Larson’s music is so laid back and pleasant that you feel like you’re sitting in a car driving along Ventura Highway with the top down. He has the voice of an angel; you could listen to it forever. Great songs sung by the best kept secret in rock music. Buy it, you won’t regret it.
