Buy this Album!!! You won't regret it.

I saw Jeff play at Borders in Monroeville, PA just last weekend. After hearing one song, I knew that I wanted to buy his cd. He is a very talented guitarist and singer. This CD really showcases his talents. It was recorded in a studio but as a live recording. Jeff plays ALL the guitar parts in the CD. For you non-guitarists, he uses what's called a sequencer. It basically records what he plays and then feeds it back in a loop so he can add another part to the mix. He does a brillant job at mixing several guitar parts seamlessly on top of one another to create a full sounding track. I LOVE that he did this CD all acoustic. Being a huge fan of acoustic coffee house style performances, it was right up my alley. You just can't find cd's like this around. He has a sound that reminds me of a cross between Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and Dave Matthews. VERY cool stuff. I highly recommend it!!!

Dear CDBaby,
I just submitted a review for this cd and I made a mistake. I said that Jeff uses a "sequencer". That is actually incorrect. He uses a "sampling machine". If you could change that in my review I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Jeff Miller is a masterful guitarist who gets his songs stuck in your head!
author: D. Joseph Rickmyre
"Something Different" by Jeff Miller has a completely different feel from his previous album "Trying to Be Cool," but there is one similarity that cannot be overlooked...his songs are mindnumbingly catchy. If you are one of those people that cannot stand it when a song gets stuck in your head (no matter how great the song is), do not buy this album; however, if you have an appreciation for deep, thoughtful lyrics and rhythms that won't allow you to keep your feet still (or to keep your head from bobbing if you aren't a foot tapper), you need to get "Something Different" (meaning THIS album...not something else). Layers upon layers upon layers of guitar parts create a beautifully full sound that will make you question Jeff's honesty when he says that he played it all live, by himself, over a span of three days. But take it from someone who has seen his live show - this guy is the real deal. And that's what this album is about. This is essentially the music from a live Jeff Miller show. So get it, enjoy it (you won't be able to help it), and then do yourself a favor and when he does come to your city, go see him do his thing for yourself!

"Something Different" is as advertised - 2/11/04
author: Regis Behe - Pittsburgh Tribune Review
Jeff Miller's debut album, "Trying to Be Cool," was a minor pop tour-de-force, an updated version of Todd Rundgren's "Something Anything," with the Upper St. Clair resident playing all instruments save drums.
His encore effort takes an opposite tack. "Something Different" is literally that, as Miller strips away the studio gimmickry for his second release. Recorded live in the studio, the 17 acoustic songs recall artists as diverse as Joseph Arthur and James Keelaghan, with a bit of Michael Hedges' intricate guitar work.
