Jeff Perry’s professional career began in 1985 as a leader/songwriter/arranger/performer (trumpet and keyboards) for Project, a jazz-fusion band located outside of Chicago. Attended college in Boston and returned to Chicago in ‘95 for more school. Played in several bands along the way including The Movers, a Boston-based Jump Blues/ R&B band. He was the trumpet player in a three- piece horn section. They performed extensively in the New England area in clubs, won the New England ‘Battle of the Blues Bands’ in July 1995, and eventually were awarded the title of “The Best Unsigned Blues Band in the U.S.” in October of 1995.
In Chicago he formed The Jeff Perry Quintet, an acoustic jazz group performing his original compositions, and in the spring of 1998 released his first CD: The Jeff Perry Quintet: Andersonville. In the spring of 2003 He completed work on a follow-up CD, Foundation, for his new group, an electric jazz quartet performing his original compositions in a jazz-fusion style.
