ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jeffrey sat down on a stool, guitar in hand, in his small apartment in Redondo Beach. He looked at his microphone and prayed God would show up to send him a song. He did not receive something new. God spoke "sing me something we know" and Jeffrey responded. He started in with an acoustic drone and followed the resonant sound with the following..."oh Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the works thy hands have made". Out of this moment was born the spiritual album "Folk Songs of Ascension". As a worship leader at churches in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Jeffrey has come to learn old and new spiritual songs through his older mentors and from being a member of a few congregations. This albums songs could have been entirely different had Jeffrey not found himself in tears whenever he sang these old hymns. At a very early age he found himself connecting with music and not the spoken word. The choirs would sing and he would listen with his heart and soul. Jeffrey knew this year that he wanted t record a new album but had no idea which way his strings were going to be pulled. Luckily, when Jeff sat down at his stool for inspiration he was not inspired with a new song but a familiar one.
