Let Jeffrey Scott & His Amazing Band take you on a "sleigh ride" through 10 classic holiday songs."Merry Christmas Melodies" is the follow up album to Jeffrey Scott's critically acclaimed and award nominated debut album "Last Rites for a Dying Heart". Listen as Scott spins his web of melody and sound on 6 Christmas classics and 4 new original songs that are bound to be holiday staples.
What began in Late October 2006 as a single ("Next Christmas Time) to be recorded and mailed to members of their fanclub quickly grew to into a 10 song fully realized album. On "Merry Christmas Melodies" you get to see where Jeffrey Scott is heading but also it offers a glimpse to where he has been. On a faithful recreation of the The Beach Boy classic "Little Saint Nick" you can hear the joy from Scott's voice as he is allowed to pay tribute to one of his heroes. The Phil Spector "wall of sound" is duplicated on the Darlene Love standard "Christmas (baby please come home) with Bassist Brian Netzley contributing the horns. The band even take a unexpected path by recording a lush version of Whams! 80's classic "Last Christmas" and a rocking interpretation of Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas Is You".
What really makes "Merry Christmas Melodies" a classic are the 4 original Scott compositions. "Mrs. Claus"is a glam-rock guitar attack that tells the comical story of a love-lorn elf whose crush on the unavailable Mrs. Claus is wreaking havoc on his life "I'll be Home By Christmas Morn" is a jumpy, high energy rocker that is 3 minutes of pop-perfection with the catchiest melody this side of the North Pole. "On Christmas Eve" is yet another soon-to-be holiday classic. Here, Scott sings about the sites and sounds of the Christmas season and how even the "scroogest" of men can believe.
As great of an album as "Merry Christmas Melodies" is, it is even more amazing to learn that it was written, recorded, and mixed in a 20 day period by Scott at his studio in Long Beach, Ca. Calling on the skills that he learned while producing his debut album "Last Rites for a Dying Heart", Scott worked at a breakneck speed in order to have the album ready for a December '06 release.
Jeffrey Scott & His Amazing Band's "Merry Christmas Melodies" is a true holiday classic that belongs in everyone's holiday music collection.
