I came upon Jeff Sampson and his Floating World by happy coincidence, and have been impressed by the high quality of his song writing and guitar playing. He’s gathered together a superb crew of amazing musicians for this recording. The recording quality is absolutely top notch - really first class. Clearly, he’s been influenced by a wide range of players, with a focus on the blues, though he does take a drive through the country on a few. The last track, My Velvet Antlers, is a tasty piece of fingerpicking virtuosity. The "recommended if you like" for this CD is, I think, pretty accurate, so if those names ring your bell, you will be pleased by the album. Sampson brings a lusty precision to his guitar work that is a pleasure to the ears, and the band sounds tight. Looking forward to more. Soon, please.

"Floating World" is one of the most enjoyable musical experiences that I have listened to in the last few years. The clever combination of rock/blues/country and jazz in their alternative domains will appeal to fans of Garcia, Stevie Ray,Ween, JJ Cale and many more. Great lyrics accompanied by sweet and understated guitar work makes this album a necessary addtion to those who follow those muscial genre's..Great job!....Cant wait to hear the next album.........
