Singer/songwriter, and 2nd grade teacher, Jeff Schroeder has recently released his new CD titled Explore New Worlds. Several of the songs were written by Jeff. The CD contains fun songs to help kids learn concepts related to math, science, language arts, and positive social development.

The CD has two unique features. It contains a 24 page booklet with song lyrics (One song per page, so the words are large enough for kids to read!). It also contains backing music tracks so kids can be the lead singers!

Jeff teaches 2nd grade at Ridgeview Elementary School in Sparta, Michigan. When students have difficulties learning certain concepts, or skills, it inspires him to write. "Music can be very instrumental in learning (no pun intended!). Singing is not only fun and motivational, but it offers what is called a 'right brain assist.' Music is a function of the right hemisphere of the brain. When concepts involving the left hemisphere (such as reading, spoken language, math numerals and equations, classification, etc.) are tied in with music, it can act as a vehicle in learning."

Jeff remembers the time when he wrote his first songs to help his students with their math. "Our curriculum involved using four 'rules' to help students learn their addition facts, but some kids still were not 'getting it.' I thought to myself, 'Maybe they would catch on if it were put to music.' One Thursday night after school I picked up my guitar, grabbed paper and a pencil, and began to write a song about 'doubles' (one of the rules). The music and the lyrics just came to me. By the end of that weekend I had completed 5 songs; one song for each rule, plus an introductory song called Addition Facts. I thank God for that talent. When the time is right, the words and music flow freely."

This project has been a life-long goal of Jeff's. Ever since he started playing the guitar at age 12, he has dreamed of recording an album "some day". "It was always put to the 'back burner' due to the tremendous amount of time and work involved. As an elementary school teacher, finding enough time has always been an issue." It was an issue until he met up with Tom and Cherie Hagen from Tom Hagen Studios in Saranac, Michigan. "Tom is so talented, and he had the resources necessary for me to do the project with a minimal amount of time and outside help. He was a huge factor in the success of this project." Jeff would also like to credit Bill Jourdan and Ada Boy Productions. They did all of the artwork and graphics for the booklet, tray card, and disc. "Bill did a fantastic job for me!"

Given 16 tracks of great music, the 24 page booklet with lyrics, and 9 additional backing tracks with this CD, $15 is a SUPER value! Have fun listening!

    Both CD's are awesome. I have both for my second grade class. On the Songs of Writing CD there are lessons and motions to go along with each song. The kids love it. Pretty soon you hear them singing and doing the motions during the day. What a better way to teach the parts of speech! I would highly recommend both CD's!

    My daughter is a 2nd grade teacher. With a weeks notice, her grade was asked to perform related to Parts of A Story. I searched and found a CD on this site. It was delivered two days later, and my daughter was the lifesaver of the 2nd grade. Everyone loved the CD and the performance! Kudos to CD Baby and Jeff Schroeder.

    I placed an order with CD Baby because they were the cheapest. I thought I would just give it a shot. Little did I know how much they cared about the service they were providing.     Great CD! I purchased it for "Swinging on a Star", but have found many other enjoyable and educational songs to use in the classroom. It doesn't sound like 'canned' educational music. The whole CD is a class act.

    This CD is excellant. I bought it for my daughter's preschool, my kids (ages 4 and 8) and for my sister's kids, ages 6 and 4. It is educational, but best of all the tunes are catchy and enjoyable to listen too. I as a parent enjoy the songs as well.

    I teach first grade and introduced the CD to my students last week. We did Doubles and Doubles+1, Habitats and Seasons. They loved it and ask for it every day. Within one day, all my students had mastered their Doubles facts! This is a great CD for teachers.

    This is an excellent CD for children to easily learn math and reading skills. The tunes are catchy and fun to sing. I would highly recommend it to anyone with elementary kids, grandkids, etc.
