Wind was written one winter when I was living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, sitting in my adobe house next to a wood stove listening to the wind whistle above me. The Wind for me has long been a symbol of Spirit, an invisible but tangible force powerfully impacting us in so many wonderful ways. That same winter I took a “Spiritual” name of Kaze, which means wind in Japanese. And not long afterwards I got a tattoo symbolizing the Spirit of the Wind to remind me of my essence as a Spirit within a body. I hope this song is uplifting and inspiring for you. May your day be blessed!

Album Notes

Music is a universal means of celebrating life. Song is a voice of the soul which, when shared, opens a doorway for con-necting deeply with each other and the world. Each person and each thing sings their song when they follow their heart, doing what they are meant to do, and being who they are meant to be with passion. Like the endless birdsong that circles the earth with the sunrise, I wish for my music to be a true expression of what it is that gives me life, an expression of who I am and how I experience the world. It is also a prayer that we may all find the music of our souls and sing our songs in harmony with everything we are and in everything we do.

The images I work with in my songwriting recognize pain and pleasure, earth and heaven, and body and spirit as funda-mentally related polarities of life. It is in the balanced center of these opposites, that unity, harmony, and fulfillment are found. Because I believe that love is the source of all things and all things have a divine purpose, my lyrics carry a positive message even when depicting a painfully human experience. My songs usually emerge when I am feeling at one with myself and the world.

I was trained in classical piano as a child. In college I bought my first guitar so I could carry my instrument with me and started writing songs. Since then, I have continued singing and songwriting, performing both originals and covers in various incarnations including solo, duo and rock band performances working primarily as lead singer, rhythm guitarist and occasional bassist and keyboardist.
