Album Notes

This collection of songs was made for future generations to reflect upon the thoughts and feelings of the American psyche through a poetic-journalistic view of the American landscape at the turn of the new millenium. The entire album was recorded in a 12 hour period from dusk 'til dawn on a crisp autumn night in 2007 using only 2 tube mics for a natural ambient sound. The title of this recording was inspired by a quote by Library of Congress folk music field collector, Alan Lomax - "True folk music reflects American reality."

"Plastic World" examines the mating habits of human beings in a modern society.
"Tobacco, Oil, Drugs & Guns" reflects the 4 biggest money making industries in the United States - Cigarette companies, Big Oil, the pharmacutical industry & the arms trade.
"In The Cards" is the unfinished story of hurricane Katrina.
"I Used To Live In The Country" is a spoken word poem about a warm memory of country living before inescapable urban sprawl.
"Someday" is a sarcastic warning to not succumb to the status quo and die with life regrets. Many touring musicians have called it their "Life's Theme Song."
The last track, "Backward Attack," is an abstract song written around 1999 and has direct references to the Twin Towers in New York City toppling and creating mass hysteria.
