Album Notes

This recording is a companion to the music CDs "Wazifa vol. I and Wazifa vol. II" and is intended to instruct the listener, through narration and vocal demonstration, how to sing each of the 15 Wazifas.

The pronunciation and meaning of each Wazifa are explained. The solo part is first sung for those who will be performing the music alone. This is followed by each part being sung separately and then finally, all parts are sung together to demonstrate how a group should sound.

Jelaluddin Gary Sill has worked with the composer and Sufi teacher Pir-0-Murshid Hidayat Inayat-Khan for many years and has produced this recording with his wife, the Canadian photographer Fazalunissa Carole Harmon. He lives in Canada, in the west coast city of Vancouver and works as a composer, musician and audio producer. He and Fazalunissa Carole Harmon lead the Vancouver Centre for the Sufi Movement in Canada.
