Album Notes

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based power pop quartet, The Jellybricks, blazed onto the scene in 1997 with the release of their debut album "Kinky Boot Beast." Their first single, "Who is God" immediately became a hit on local radio stations and soon found its way onto the national airwaves. Within weeks, they found themselves sharing the stage with acts such as Live, Goo Goo Dolls, Fuel, and Better than Ezra.

With their live show honed by months relentless touring, the band returned to the studio and emerged with 1999's critically acclaimed, "Soapopera," their second full-length album. The Jellybricks again found themselves on the airwaves with the singles "Speechless" and "Prerequisite Rocker," and hit the road once more in support of the album.

Their most recent album, "Power This" (2004), is their best yet, and showcases the The Jellybricks' ever-maturing songwriting skills and studio sensibilites. If you've never heard this band, be sure to check them out and see what all the fuss is about. You won't be sorry.

Power This is a must-get CD for any power pop fanatic. Catchy melodies, interesting lyrics and killer guitar riffs culminate into fun, yet well-crafted, pop songs. Listening to this album may become habit-forming.

What is it about Pennsylvania that produces not just great NFL quarterbakcs (Montana, Marino, etc.), but also great pop bands (like Cherry Twister and now The Jellybricks)? "Power This" is the kind of Matthew Sweet-esque pop music the world could use a whole lot more of. Great stuff!

Polished power-pop, with an edge
author: Jim Warner
Power This is the Jellybricks most mature release to date. With their latest CD, the 'Bricks have managed to further hone their already exceedingly intelligent lyrics and polish their production. However - and this is a rare feat in the music industry - they have done so without losing their edge, or their distinctive collective voice. While one could distinguish a long and varied list of influences based on their sound, Power This takes the band well beyond your average "they sound like so-and-so" comparison. The 'Bricks sound like the 'Bricks. The band and the CD have a voice all their own. Power This is fresh, exciting music for those who prefer quality songwriting and adept execution in a world of carbon-copy rotation list fodder.
