JENA DOUGLAS / THE BALLAD OF CALAMITY:
Jena has been writing songs for over 20 years. She has an Associate of Art degree in music from Santa Barbara City College and a Bachelor of Art degree in music from University of California Santa Barbara. Her latest CD, The Ballad of Calamity, is a work of love recorded with friends and family. Jena describes her album, The Ballad of Calamity as, "Americana Rock with a 70's hangover". Kenny Edwards plays electric guitar, bass and mandolin and is a phenomenal musician who is founding member of The Stone Poneys with Linda Ronstadt. George Pendergast (Dishwalla) is a sought after drummer and the owner of Mike's Drum Shop in Santa Barbara. Tony Ybarra has a master's degree in guitar from USC, and is an awesome classical player who also understands the rock world. Keith Douglas is Jena's nephew and also horn player for The Mad Caddies. Jena is fortunate to have many talented musicians from her own family to choose from, like Keith and Aaron, her brother, plays stand up bass on, "Sweet as You" and her son Dylan Douglas, who at the tender age of 12 yrs. plays percussion on most of the songs and bass on "Again Someday.'' Dylan is also in Jena's acoustic group, Jmuse. Jmuse is featured on the songs, Boy, Again Someday, From Your Fire, Kings and Queens Rodeo and Goodbye. Todd Grant is the acoustic lead guitar player and background vocal. A true bohemian Steve Emanuel plays Stand up bass on "From your Fire" and "Goodbye". Back to the studio players there also is, Barbara Coventry, who plays violin on “Goodbye”, “Boy” and “KIngs and Queens Rodeo”. Dr. John Clark, a music professor, plays piano on the only cover tune, "Walk On By". Robinson Eikenberry is the background vocalist, mountain dulcimer and producer/engineer.
Currently, Jena is submitting her songs to film,TV and record companies, teaching songwriting, writing a book on songwriting and also playing locally with her rock band, Jena Douglas and The Ballad of Calamity.
